Some ppl say that all the top real estate agents are the ones who make the sales. Do they really hog it up that much so one cannot make a little $$$ during the year, like $30,000.?? I’d settle for that. Just wondering if a few bones would be thrown my way for ‘SOME’ type of income, yes? No?
AND WHAT ABOUT RENTAL commissions? Would I be able to count on this a LITTLE throughout the year? Perhaps $15,000. per year for that?
So, if I can count on a little something, I’m about to sign up for this class coming up. I may have a job lined up at Century21, a friend offered me, after I get licensed.
Real Estate Agents work on commission. And unless the company you work for has a base plus commission arrangement, you drive your own financial success. Base plus is typically given to someone who manages a team and therefore doesn’t spend all of their time selling to clients.
You need to talk to your potential boss and find out what the compensation plan is. Every company has a different plan.

The income you will receive depends on the area where you live and what type of real estate you are selling. I have three friends who have tried to make a living selling real estate and all three of them gave up after realizing they couldn’t make a living doing it. The money they did make was sporadic and couldn’t pay their regular bills. Another friend of mine manages about a dozen single-family rental properties and receives $850 a month salary. She is on call 24/7 and must arrange for plumbers or other repairmen whenever a renter calls her. She collects the monthly rent payments. She has to clean up the houses after renters leave. She has to advertise and interview potential new renters. She does like doing rental management but I think it’s a small salary for the time involved.

Sawree for the title but no one would answer this when i put normal titles
. Okay so in a few weeks my family is taking a trip to nyc and my mom & I are planning to hit alot of the stores along 5th/madison ave. such as Barneys, Bergdorfs, Bloomingdales, Bendels, Macys, Tiffanys, etc. However, our shopping budget is pretty tight (for nyc) I have about $400 to spend on clothes. Obviously that’s barely going to cover an outfit from any of the stores i mentioned, even from the sales racks. So if you live in nyc or know of some great places to shop for good deals (I’m not talking walmart or Kohls, I want something like Century21 where you can find deals on nice designer wear) Since I want to get the most for my money I’d like reccomendations of outlets or stores that sell nice clothes for cheaper prices, not just generally cheap stores though like H&M, etc. And something on the Upper East Side or midtown manhattan or just a few blocks away would be great, thanks. (Woodbury Common is wayy to far.) Also is it often that you see celebrities such as Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift, or Justin Bieber (yes, im 14) just walking around in the city? Like on fifth/madison avenue or something?? thankssss:)
No celebrity just "walks around" in NYC. Unless they have a deathwish.

You seem to be under the misguided impressions that rental commissions are on going. If you find someone a rental place usually you get one months rent as the commission, one time and one time only it isn’t something that will be ongoing unless you are finding a ton of rentals, however, Century21 does not focus on rentals they focus on sales, and in this enconomy Real Estate sales is NOT the place to be. When you complete the course and take the state exam Century 21 and all the other Real Estate places hire about 30 new sales associates because they know that the turnover in this business is great. There is no money unless you make a sale or the person you are co-brokered with makes a sale and you receive a small commission. There is a lot of floor time and cold calling involved in this business, if you happen to get someone selling who is willing to sign and you got them to sign then it gets turned over to an experienced Broker to handle with you doing all the grunt work and receiving a small commission if and when the sale goes thru. You can go months between commissions so unless you can sustain yourself with another income or savings it will not be a monthly paying job.
Even if the sale goes thru and you make $5000.00 off of that commission it could be another 5 months before another sale goes thru.
It’s a very difficult job, both my father and step mother do this and have for years, my father got his Mortgage License so he can do mortgages because the home sales were drying up but they haven’t been doing well and ended up short selling their house because the economy is so poor and no one wants to pay Realtors anything nowadays.
You need to talk to someone who is a Realtor and have them tell you what to expect but no you don’t get paid unless you sell a home.

Hi, glad that you guys are going to visit the Big Apple. $400 dollars really isn’t that tight of a budget on clothes if you spend correctly. Macy’s sale racks are actually pretty cheap. (Got my prom dress for $30 dollars!) Just gotta know where to look. You could always go to SoHo, it’s a whole stretch of stores and they’re actually pretty cool. I love going there with my friends because usually I have a budget of about $100 dollars and I still get heaps of clothes. (You can google map it. It’s on Broadway. You can’t miss it.)
The stores include Hollister, Forever21, Sephora and many many more. Sure, it’s not as fancy and high class as the ones you mentioned above, but they’re decent. Your best bet would’ve been Woodbury Common, but since you said it was too far away, there’s not really anywhere else in the city.
I have never ever seen any celebs out here by the way, though I’m sure they’re here all the time.
