I hired century21 to sell my house 2 days later I changed my mind The agent said I owe 500.00 is this correct?

All the agent did was fill out the disclosure ,he put the lock on the door so any agents can get in to view the house. He said he was going to put my house on the internet , but Thursday night my house was not on the internet. I told him that price of 500.00 was to high. Does he have the right to charge that amount?

It depends what is listed in the listing contract. If it specifies a cancellation fee of $500 and you signed the contract, then his $500 claim is valid. If its not listed in the contract, then you don’t owe him anything. Normally some agents will ask as a courtesy for you to reimburse them for their marketing expenses.

So my best advice is to carefully read over the listing contract as to what it specifies in the event of cancellation.

If it’s in the contract you signed with them to sell the house, you owe it. If not, you don’t owe them anything.

You need to read your contract. If a fee is not listed the next "move" is to call an attorney.

You signed a listing contract. Did you read it? Don’t you have a copy? What does it say?

C21 is probably as suspicious as I am. Have you changed your mind about selling or have you decided to try another agent?

Try negotiating the $500 down, or, fulfill your end of the contract.
