Should I become a real estate agent?
I heard the real estate agent exam is very easy should I become a real estate agent at this time? I’m in NYC will the market recover? Since the houses are so cheap why aren’t people buying now? Will there be mentors to help me through out my real estate career? I’m planning to become one by going to the training sessions in Century21 or should I apply a job in a private firm? Is it hard to become a real estate agent at this time? I’ve heard people closing down their realty offices because they can’t sell one house in a year. Should I step into this career? or not waste time on it since there’s so many competition. Any advices from experienced agents are helpful thanks.

I think the NYC and D.C. markets will have good support as long as we have a USA. So take this dip in activity as a chance to get into the game. There are a number of attractive females out in the heartland who giving up because the market is too difficult. This pure residential sales. I think the direction of real estate career should be to commercial.

Selling real estate simply isn’t as easy it looks. You don’t just have an open house and unrepresented buyers just come streaming in wanting to do business with you. Especially in an area like NYC where there’s an insane amt of property available and an equally insane amt of Realtors.
The test isn’t insanely difficult but does require solid understanding of legal, math, and cognitive concepts. Not to mention things that can’t be taught such as good people skills, approachability, and experience.
Keep in mind, real estate sales is feast or famine. You are, most likely, 100 percent commission based. You would need to be able to survive the famine months, where sales are sluggish and you just can’t get sales. It takes will power, a drive for success, some funds tucked away (you won’t receive payment for your first sale until closing which could be a month away), and a lot of self confidence to succeed.
