Our lease is up The first of March, most likely we’ll rent month to month until we find something. Should we start looking now? What’s the first step we should take? Go to the bank to find out about loans or find a real estate agent? Is Century21 a good place to to find someone to help us find a home?
I really don’t know where to begin!
First and foremost please get a copy of your credit report that way you won’t be surprised if the lender sounds like he is coming off the wall with his questions.
Now, do you have at the very least 20% for the downpayment and at least $3,000 in closing costs? If you plan well enough you will be ahead of the game.
Do not start looking at houses until you are pre-approved by a lender. Do not accept a lender who will just pre-qualify they are not the same thing.
Interview at lease 5 agents so you can see how they work, what they have to offer you (remember they work for you, not vice versa) and if you feel comfortable with them. This is very important and I can not stress that enough. Ask them questions and if they hesitate on any of them,not answer so sound like they are not sure, skip them.
Next, have them show you properties that are what you can afford and lower,not higher out of your comfort zone. This comes in handy as you are gonna be on an emotional rollercoaster and agents know this. Some prey on Buyers, others are sincere in their efforts to help you find your home.
Timeshare is a point system used almost anywhere. Owner is located in Vancouver, Washington, so would like to talk to someone here or Portland, Oregon.
Typically timeshare is a much less liquid asset. You probably should talk to your asset manager first (the company you signed up for the timeshare), who typically manages all the timeshare assets and pricing.
Unless this space has evolved, my understanding is that realty companies do not get involved with such illiquid assets.
